Exercise Increases DHEA Levels in Post-Menopausal Women
Noel Peterson, N.D.
DHEA has long been recognized as an anti-aging hormone. It is known that DHEA levels decline with advancing age, but not why. Perhaps part of the reason is because of a decline in exercise levels. It's been known that exercise increasesDHEA levels in young men, and a recent study has found that regular exercise increases DHEA levels in postmenopausal women as well.
Postmenopausal women with higher natural DHEA levels enjoy stronger bones, thicker skin, greater muscle mass, and lower incidence of chronic degenerative immune diseases. Just one more good reason to make exercise a part of your life! We do not recommend DHEA supplementation without prior testing. If you are interested, we can test your level of DHEA and other hormones.
