Soy Lectins

Noel Peterson, ND

About 15% of the weight of soy is a lectin compound called soy agglutinin. Soy agglutinin actually agglutinates, or sticks to, breast and other cancer cells, causing them to become visible to the immune system. This probably represents one of the major ways in which soy products not only prevent breast and prostate cancer, but also is the mechanism responsible for soy's cancer fighting effects. Just one more reason to make soy a daily food in your diet.
